Prof. Lakshman Ratnayake
Chairman
Professor Lakshman Ratnayake is the Chancellor and Chairman of SLIIT, bringing over 45 years of experience in higher education and engineering. Prior to this role, he served as Chairman and Senior Professor of Civil Engineering from April 2014. Before joining SLIIT, he held several key positions at the University of Moratuwa, including Senior Professor, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering (1989-1994), and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (1995-2001). Throughout his academic career, Prof. Ratnayake also held professorial positions at the University of Calgary, Canada, and Utah State University, USA, during his sabbaticals. He was honored as an Emeritus Professor by the University of Moratuwa in 2014.
He served as Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) from 2001 to 2006 and held the presidency of both the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) in 2002 and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in 2004. He also led two World Bank-funded higher education projects from 2004 to 2014.
Prof. Lalith Gamage
President/CEO
Professor Lalith Gamage currently serves as the Chairman of Curtin Colombo and the Vice Chancellor/CEO of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). A visionary leader in higher education, he played a pivotal role in founding SLIIT. Under his leadership, SLIIT forged a strong partnership with Curtin University, a collaboration that has since grown for over two decades. His tireless efforts and foresight in providing access to world-class education in Sri Lanka have now led to the establishment of Curtin University Colombo, a fully-fledged global campus within Curtin University’s prestigious global network.
Professor Gamage holds a degree in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and a PhD from the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research interests are in the areas of Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Evolutionary Computing. He has played a key role in advancing Sri Lanka's IT industry through leadership positions at the ICTA, the Lanka Software Foundation, the ICT Cluster, and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute. Internationally, he extends his expertise as an Affiliate Professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada
Prof. Nimal Rajapakse

Prof. Nimal Rajapakse, a civil engineering graduate of the University of Moratuwa, joined SLIIT in 2019 after serving four Canadian research universities as Department Head, Dean and Vice President (Research and International). He is currently the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost of SLIIT. He is an Emeritus Professor at Simon Fraser University, Canada, where he was a Professor from 2016 to 2019. Prof. Rajapakse also held leadership roles such as VP (Research & International) at Carleton University, Canada, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science at Simon Fraser University, and Director of ICICS at the University of British Columbia. He has served as Head of Departments at both the University of British Columbia and the University of Manitoba, where he also worked as a Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor from 1985 to 2000. His career began as a Design Engineer at CECB, Sri Lanka, and as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Moratuwa.
Prof. Rajapakse has been ranked among the top 1% of researchers worldwide across all disciplines by Stanford University and is currently the highest-ranked researcher employed by Sri Lankan universities and higher educational institutes, according to the Stanford list. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Engineering Institute of Canada
Dr. Harsha Cabral

Dr. Harsha Cabral, President’s Counsel, is a leading legal expert in Sri Lanka with 37 years of experience in Intellectual Property, Company, Commercial, Arbitration, Securities, and International Trade Law, covering both civil and criminal aspects of these areas of law. A President’s Counsel for 18 years, he has a significant practice in Sri Lanka's Commercial High Courts and Supreme Court. He holds a Ph.D. in Corporate Law from the University of Canberra, Australia. Dr. Cabral has served as a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka, and was a founding member of the Sri Lanka International Arbitration Centre. He played a key role in drafting the Arbitration Act, No. 11 of 1995, and was one of the architects of the Companies Act, No. 7 of 2007.
Dr. Cabral currently serves as Chairman of the National Savings Bank, Chairman of the Tokyo Cement Group, and an Independent Non-Executive Director of Ceylinco Life Insurance Ltd., DIMO PLC, Hayleys PLC, Alumex PLC, Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, SLIIT, and several other institutions. Previously, he was the Chairman of LOLC Finance PLC, Acting Chairman of Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB), and a senior Director of the Union Bank of Sri Lanka. Dr. Cabral is a senior visiting lecturer at several universities, a frequent speaker at seminars, and the author of several books on Corporate Law, Intellectual Property, and Commercial Arbitration. He has also presented numerous papers both locally and internationally and has extensive experience as counsel, Sole Arbitrator, Co-Arbitrator, and Chairman in domestic and international arbitrations
Mr. Thilan Wijesinghe
Board Member
Thilan Wijesinghe has degrees in Industrial Engineering, Economics and Business from the State University of New York and Cornell University, USA. In his career Thilan has functioned as CEO/Chairman of both private and public sector organizations and is an entrepreneur and angel investor. He began his career as a Senior Consultant at PwC and later became the Head of Strategic Planning at Sampath Bank. In 1992, he co-founded Asia Capital PLC and Asia Stock Brokers, which became Sri Lanka's largest investment bank and stockbroker by 1994.
Thilan was invited to become the youngest-ever Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI) and soon after sold his shareholding in Asia Capital. At the BOI, he pioneered Public-Private Partnership (PPP) transactions.
Thilan has served as CEO/Managing Director of Sri Lanka's largest listed property companies, Overseas Realty and Asian Hotels. From 2017 to 2019, he was the founder and Chairman of the National Agency for Public-Private Partnership (NAPPP), developing a project pipeline worth over USD 2 billion.
Currently, Thilan is the Chairman and CEO of TWCorp (TWC), an investment bank specializing in private equity, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and PPP advisory services. He also sits on the boards of several public and private companies and has co-founded several pioneering businesses, including Ceylon Tea Trails, SLIIT, Sapphirus Lanka, and Wow.lk
Mr. Jehan Prasanna Amaratunga
Board Member
Jehan Prasanna Amaratunga is currently the Chairman of Clarkeview Investments Limited, an investment holding company, and has been a Director at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) since July 2015.
Jehan has held several key positions in prominent organizations, including Group Executive Deputy Chairman at MTD Walkers PLC, Director at the Sri Lanka Institute of Nano Technology, People's Leasing & Finance PLC, JAT Holdings, and People's Bank. Additionally, he was the Chairman of People’s Insurance PLC.
A Fellow Member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA) and the Chartered Management Accountants of the UK (FCMA), Jehan has also contributed to academia and professional bodies as a member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and the University of Colombo.
Jehan's early career includes experience as a Senior Manager in Management Consultancy Services at Ernst & Young in Colombo and Singapore, as well as a Financial and IT Consultant to private sector companies.
Mr. Reshan Dewapura
Board Member
Reshan Dewapura is the CEO of GSS International (Pvt) Ltd, one of Sri Lanka's largest BPO operations, providing AI+ services to global clients with over 4,000 employees in Colombo and Kurunegala. Previously, he served as CEO of the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), where he also served as Program Director & COO over a period of 11½ years, where he led the World Bank-funded e-Sri Lanka Development program, significantly advancing ICT in the country. He was a Director on the ICTA Board from 2018-2022 and held director roles at SLCERT, LGII, LKNIC, and a member of the Governing Council of NIBM.
Currently, Reshan is a Board Director at the SLIIT and Flix 11 (Pvt) Ltd and serves on the International Advisory Board of the Centre for Development Informatics at the University of Manchester, U.K. He is an Executive Board Director of the World Summit Awards and currently an Emeritus Director and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Telecentre.org Foundation and served as a member of the Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF)
Before his tenure at ICTA, Reshan spent nearly a decade at Hewlett Packard (HP) in the UK, holding senior management roles in HP Professional Services for EMEA and receiving HP’s Top Achiever’s Award. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and a Master’s in Project Management from George Washington University, with over 37 years of experience in the ICT industry.
