External Research Grants

Connecting with national and global funding.

Expanding Research Through External Grants

SLIIT assists researchers in securing competitive external grants by offering proposal guidance, administrative support, and networking opportunities with funding agencies.
The goal is to enhance the scale and impact of research through partnerships with government bodies, international organizations, and industry collaborators, enabling researchers to expand their work beyond institutional boundaries.

Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD)

AHEAD (Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development) is a World Bank funded programme, which is implemented with the supervision of Government of Sri Lanka, with the aim of supporting the higher education sector of the country. The sole objective is to uphold the higher education system, thereby uplift Sri Lanka from Lower Middle Income Country (LMIC) to Upper Middle-Income Country (UMIC).

One identified result area is to promote research and innovation culture to support economic development, especially the growth of higher-value industries and services.

The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) established the SLIIT – Society Linkage (SLIIT-SL) Cell to be eligible to compete for Research Innovation and Commercialization (RIC) projects and Development Oriented Research (DOR) projects as a non-state Higher Education Institute through the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) operations.

SLIIT-SL Cell is formed to build up better industrial partnerships that will aid the above mentioned DOR and RIC projects of AHEAD Operations.
