This research project by the SLIIT Faculty of Engineering investigates the characteristics and engineering properties of peaty soils, focusing on their improvement and stabilization. It also identifies defects in bored and cast in-situ piles installed through thick peaty soil deposits and proposes effective remedial actions. Funded by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, the study aims to enhance foundation design and construction practices, ensuring safer and more reliable infrastructure development on challenging soil conditions.
