Quantity Surveyors are essential to the construction industry, particularly amid growing sustainability concerns, resource constraints, and the demand for value-driven solutions. Their role has evolved to include digitalisation, dispute resolution, and flexible contract and procurement practices to meet today’s complex project demands. The department offers a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University which is one of the highly ranked universities in the world.

Additionally, Department has received approval from the Ministry of Education to offer its own BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying the first of its kind granted to a non-state institution in Sri Lanka. Both programmes are currently delivered to meet the diverse needs of students and the evolving demands of the local and global construction industry.

Our undergraduate students are provided with well-equipped lecture rooms and laboratories for conducting lectures, workshops and practical, in a student-friendly learning environment, and a dedicated group of academic staff who deliver the program. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience through site visits and industry related work activities. Our state-of-the-art computer labs, measurement labs, and workshops allow students to apply what 
they have learned in a practical setting, giving them the ability to synchronize theoretical knowledge to practical applications to gain better understanding. Program modules include lectures, tutorials, labs, and project work. Designed to keep pace with rapid industry changes, the program quickly adapts to meeting construction sector needs and gives graduates a competitive edge.

The curriculum starts with basic theory and advances to complex topics, providing students with essential knowledge and skills. It also aligns with standards set by both local and international accreditation bodies. Apart from that, our delivery is further strengthened by a distinguished team of highly qualified academics and seasoned industry professionals, offering invaluable practical insights to the learning environment. Notably, our in-house academic panel is recognised as one of the most accomplished among non-state institutions delivering Quantity Surveying programmes in the country.

And it’s been further strengthened with high caliber visiting staff consisting of leading academics from the state sector universities and highly regarded industry professionals. Our dedicated academic staff are highly talented and resourceful in undertaking and supervising research project works of the students from existing impediments to prolific utilizations. Through a majority of conducted research, scientific knowledge on contemporary challenges has been already disseminated in both local and foreign indexed journals and conferences.
