WHY CHOOSE ARCHITECTURE
WHAT YOU WILL STUDY
WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM OUTCOMES

Choosing the SLIIT Architecture Degree is a smart step for aspiring architects seeking a globally recognized, industry-relevant education. Offered in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), UK, the programme allows students to complete all three years in Sri Lanka while earning an internationally awarded degree. This not only ensures global exposure but also makes the programme highly cost-effective—approximately 1/8th the cost of studying in the UK.

The curriculum is designed to meet the standards of both the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), ensuring students receive a professional and accredited education. The first two years focus on Sri Lankan architectural context, while the final year introduces global perspectives through LJMU’s curriculum.

Students benefit from one-on-one mentoring by experienced chartered architects and academics, hands-on studio work, and real-world design challenges. The programme also emphasizes critical thinking, sustainability, and digital design tools like AutoCAD and 3D modeling.

With strong academic support, international recognition, and a clear pathway to postgraduate studies or professional practice, SLIIT’s Architecture Degree equips students with the skills, confidence, and credentials to thrive in the global architecture industry.

BSc (Hons) Architecture Degree equips students with a comprehensive foundation in architectural design, theory, and practice, preparing them for both local and international careers. Graduates emerge with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Architecture, awarded by Liverpool John Moores University (UK), ensuring global recognition and academic credibility.

The programme’s outcomes align with the standards of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), meeting the requirements for a professional Part 1 qualification. Students gain proficiency in architectural design, construction technology, environmental studies, urbanism, and professional practice, along with hands-on skills in AutoCAD, 3D modeling, and freehand drawing.

By the end of the three-year programme, students are capable of conceptualizing and executing innovative architectural solutions that are culturally sensitive and environmentally responsible. They are also prepared for postgraduate studies, including the MSc in Architecture at SLIIT, after completing six months of industry experience under a Chartered Architect.

Graduates are well-positioned to pursue careers in architecture firms, urban planning, interior design, and construction management, or to continue their academic journey toward becoming Chartered Architects. The degree fosters creativity, critical thinking, and global awareness—key traits for success in the architectural profession.
