Playing Rugby at SLIIT
Rugby at SLIIT welcomes all — from total beginners to seasoned players. Students can represent the university in 15s, 12s, and 7s formats, benefiting from expert coaching, structured training, and team spirit. Many team members hail from top rugby schools, yet passion, not prior experience, is the only requirement.

No special equipment is required to get started. New players should wear suitable sports clothes and rugby boots. Personal gear can be added later based on the guidance of the team captain or coach.
No. All sports activities at SLIIT, including rugby, are completely free for enrolled students.
Yes. Players are expected to follow the general guidelines of the SLIIT Sports Unit, and respect training schedules, team codes, and venue rules. New players will be briefed on all expectations during their first few sessions.
