New Colombo Plan
A group of civil engineering students from The University of Queensland visited Sri Lanka for a two-week program under the New Colombo Plan, aimed at promoting cross-cultural understanding and professional growth. Hosted by SLIIT’s Department of Civil Engineering, the program featured lectures, site visits like the Central Expressway Project, and a Bridge Design Challenge with local students. Cultural immersion included visits to religious sites, UNESCO World Heritage sites like Sigiriya and Dambulla, and traditional farming experiences. Guided by academics and industry professionals, the initiative successfully combined engineering education with cultural exploration, fostering global collaboration and mutual appreciation between Australia and Sri Lanka.
