Lakna, a Taekwondo black belter and dedicated Poomsae player, is currently studying at SLIIT, excelling both academically and in sports. Her Taekwondo journey began in school, where she competed in Poomsae and Sparring championships, securing multiple titles. A consistent gold medalist in the Korean Ambassador’s Cup National Taekwondo Championship since 2018, she continued her success with another victory in 2024, along with a bronze medal at the Independence Cup National Taekwondo Championship.
After school, she dedicated herself fully to Poomsae, refining her skills to achieve excellence. At SLIIT, she won a gold medal in her first inter-university championship and earned two bronze medals in team Poomsae. Her international achievements include two bronze medals at the 1st GCS Colombo International Taekwondo Championship and the 1st South Asian International Open Taekwondo Championship in 2023. She has also been recognized with both school and university colors for her achievements.
SLIIT takes pride in supporting Lakna, helping her balance academics and Taekwondo. The Sports Council, lecturers, batchmates, coaches, and teammates have played a crucial role in her journey. With relentless dedication, she continues striving for excellence, and SLIIT stands by her as she reaches new milestones in the sport.
