𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐮𝐩 2024

𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐤𝐞, an accomplished swimmer from SLIIT, proudly representing Sri Lanka, won the bronze medal in the Women’s 3km S7-S10 category at the 2nd World Para Swimming Open Water Cup in Sardinia, Italy, on 21st September 2024.

Galina clocked an impressive 42:50.40 to secure the bronze, earning seven points for her remarkable performance.

Last year, Basnayake made headlines by winning a silver medal at the Asian Para Games in China.

That marked Sri Lanka’s first medal in the Asian Para Games after a 13-year wait. In the women’s 400m freestyle S9 category, she finished with a time of 5 minutes and 18.28 seconds, bringing home Sri Lanka’s first swimming medal since 2010.
