CAREER SUMMARY

Ms. Sachini Ohara Pathiraja is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience in mental health care. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from Deakin University, Australia, equipping her with a strong foundation in psychological theories and practices. She further specialized in clinical psychology through a Master of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology at the University of Colombo and obtained a Master of Autism from the University of Wollongong, focusing on her expertise in autism spectrum disorders.

With over five years of clinical experience, Ms. Sachini has worked as a clinical psychologist in various settings, including hospitals and institutions both in Sri Lanka and abroad. Her evidence-based therapeutic approach and commitment to client-centered care have positively impacted the lives of many individuals. Beyond her clinical practice, she has also served as a project manager, notably contributing to the revision of Sri Lanka’s mental health policy in 2015. Her leadership in the ‘Study Australia Industry Experience Program’ further enhanced her ability to work effectively in team settings, improving employability and fostering cross-cultural understanding through practical industry experiences.
In academia, Ms. Sachini serves as a lecturer in psychology, offering students a strong academic foundation enriched by her real-world clinical experience. Her teaching bridges theory with practice, creating an engaging and applied learning environment. She adheres to the scientist-practitioner model, maintaining a continuous commitment to research and professional development, which underscores her dedication to excellence in mental health care.
