Professor Lalith Gamage currently serves as the Chairman of Curtin Colombo and the Vice Chancellor/CEO of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). A visionary leader in higher education, he played a pivotal role in founding SLIIT. Under his leadership, SLIIT forged a strong partnership with Curtin University, a collaboration that has since grown for over two decades. His tireless efforts and foresight in providing access to world-class education in Sri Lanka have now led to the establishment of Curtin University Colombo, a fully-fledged global campus within Curtin University’s prestigious global network.
Professor Gamage holds a degree in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and a PhD from the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research interests are in the areas of Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Evolutionary Computing. He has played a key role in advancing Sri Lanka's IT industry through leadership positions at the ICTA, the Lanka Software Foundation, the ICT Cluster, and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute.
