Rohan holds an Honors degree in Physical Science from the University of Kelaniya (1994) a Master’s degree in Information Science from the Graduate School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Fukuoka Japan (2000), a Doctor of Engineering (Ph.D.) in Information Science from the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Iizuka, Japan (2006) and a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) in Management of Technology, Graduate School of Economics, Department of Business and Technology Management, Kyushu University, Japan(2009). During his Masters and Ph.D periods he was awarded a scholarship from Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho, 1999-2000) and Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Scholarship (2001-2004) in order to carry out his higher studies in Japan.
Rohan is a generalist with MSC, Ph.D. and MBA, having exposed to the fields of ICT and Management of Technology (MOT). Currently he is a senior lecturer (Higher Grade) in the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Computing, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), Malabe, Sri Lanka.
He joined SLIIT in 2010 and held positions as the Executive Director of Sri Lanka Technology Incubator (Pvt.) Ltd (SLTI) from 2010 to 2013. Currently he is associating with government organizations, Provincial Councils, Ministries and private sector corporations as a consultant and a member of Advisory Board in the field of Information Technology, Management of Technology, System implementations, and Business Process Re-Engineering. He possesses a high level of conceptual ability and gained technology and business acumen from many industries ranging specially from Universities, Software industries to both national and international projects.
He is a member of Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) and IEEE in the Sri Lankan chapter. His research interests are Business Intelligence, Big Data and predictive data analytics, Medical Informatics and Distributed Database Management Systems. Annually he is supervising several SLIIT students’ treasury and business category projects which are going to be presented at the contest in the NBQSA. His project received the Gold Medal from the NBQSA 2014 Competition and the same project received the Merit Award from APICTA 2014 competition held in Indonesia in November, 2014. In 2015 his project won the Silver medal MBQSA 2015 from the Treasury Business category. He always upgrades the knowledge with cutting edge technologies. Hence, he has completed the Redhat Linux Certificated System Administrator and Certificated System Engineer certification course modules. Further, he is reading for the Redhat Enterprise Virtualization Administration, Redhat Storage Server Administration and Redhat Server Hardening course modules.
