CAREER SUMMARY

Pradeep Randiwela, Associate Professor in Marketing at the Faculty of Management and Finance – University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, joined the Faculty in April 1990 having previously worked as a Marketing Executive (1986 – 1990) in a leading finance company in Sri Lanka. Recently, Pradeep received Long Service Award for 25 years of sustained service at the University.

Pradeep has been associated with many international and national organizations: Short-term Consultant at World Bank in Colombo – Sri Lanka; Short-term Consultant at International Labor Organization (ILO) in Colombo - Sri Lanka; Chairman of Review Panels - the Ministry of Higher Education,Sri Lanka, to review applications seeking degree awarding status by non-state sector institutions; Commission Member at Public Enterprises Reforms Commission (PERC) - Sri Lanka; Director, Cement Corporation - Sri Lanka. Corporate Trainer and Services Marketing Consultant - People’s Bank, Sri Lanka; Member of Curriculum Development Board - Uva-Wellassa University of Sri Lanka; and Corporate Trainer at many other private institutions in Sri Lanka. Currently Pradeep is associated as Associate Professor in Marketing (on sabbatical) with Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT).

The past 30 years of his professional/academic career covers contribution to teaching, research, university administration, consulting, corporate training, and public speaking. Pradeep was the former Dean (2002 – 2005) of the Faculty of Management and Finance, and was the former Head of the Department of Commerce (2002). He was pioneered in introducing four MBA programs, including three specialized MBAs (1st time in Sri Lanka) such as MBA in Marketing, MBA in Human Resource Management and MBA in Finance, during his tenure as the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance, which has become the the most sought after MBA programs in Sri Lanka. Pradeep also was the founder Coordinator of Executive MBA and Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality and Leisure) programs offered by the University of Colombo.

Pradeep is a visiting Faculty for many MBA programs conducted in Sri Lanka and evaluator of Ph.D. thesis in Sri Lankan universities and overseas.

Pradeep has published many research papers to his credit and has presented research papers every year from 2004 to date at International conferences held in Oxford University-UK, and Cambridge University-UK.
